If your team keeps sales material in Claude Projects - battle research, positioning docs, project instructions - you can import it without copying anything by hand. The import reads Claude’s official data export and turns your selected projects’ knowledge docs into searchable documents.

Get your Claude export

  1. On claude.ai, open Settings → Privacy (or go directly to claude.ai/settings/data-privacy-controls).
  2. Click Export data.
  3. Claude emails a download link to your account’s address - usually within minutes, occasionally longer for large accounts. Download the ZIP from that email promptly; the link expires.
You don’t need to open or edit the ZIP. Any plan tier can export - this works on Claude Free, Pro, Team, and Enterprise accounts.

Import into the knowledge base

  1. Go to Settings → Connectors → Add Connector and pick Claude Projects.
  2. Drop the export ZIP onto the upload area.
  3. Pick which projects to import. Each project shows how many docs it contains; a project’s custom instructions can be imported as a document too (on by default - they’re often the most valuable text in the project).
  4. Choose sharing: shared with your team or only you.
  5. Click Import. Docs are indexed within a few minutes and appear under the Claude Projects connector in your documents.
Privacy: the export ZIP contains your entire Claude history, including personal conversations. The archive is read entirely on your device - only the project documents you select are uploaded. Your conversations never leave your machine. After importing, you can delete the ZIP from your Downloads folder.
What’s included: Claude’s export carries text-based project documents - Word docs, text, Markdown, HTML, and code files. Uploads like PDFs, CSVs, and images are not part of Anthropic’s export format, so they can’t be imported this way. Upload those directly as documents, or use the Claude Enterprise sync once available, which covers all file types.

Re-importing later

The import is a snapshot, not a live sync. When your Claude projects change, run a fresh export and import it again: unchanged docs are recognized and kept, updated docs are re-indexed, and docs you deleted in Claude are removed. Delete the older Claude Projects connector afterward to keep the list tidy.
On Claude Enterprise? A continuous sync via the Claude Enterprise Compliance API is coming - contact us if you’d like it enabled for your organization.
